Healing Feathers Integrated

KETAMINE ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY (KAP)

To 'integrate' means to unify or to bring parts together as a whole. Having a 'holistic' approach means to heal from a whole perspective; body, mind & spirit all working together as a unit, rather than independent parts.

We believe that healing holistically is possible but you must understand and become aware of each individual part to begin working with them as a whole. Healing Feathers Integrated provides a safe, unique place for a person to look at these individual parts and begin to create a functional unit as a whole again. Through non-traditional healing approaches we look at everything affecting the body, mind & spirit to find clarity and relief.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Ketamine?

Ketamine is a powerful medicine that can quickly relieve depression and other severe mental health issues. Originally used as an anesthetic since the 1970s, it is now administered in lower doses to help disrupt negative feelings and promote healthier brain patterns. As a psychedelic medicine, ketamine stimulates glutamate, a chemical in the brain that repairs damaged neurons and enhances neuroplasticity—the brain's ability to form new connections.

When depression and anxiety stunt neurons, ketamine helps restore and reconnect them, reducing obsessive and negative thinking. This process can create a new baseline for your symptoms, offering lasting relief that may extend for months, with the option of intermittent boosters for prolonged benefits.

How much is it?

Ketamine Assisted Therapy (KAP) is a valuable investment of both time and money. Our packages are designed to be as affordable as possible, ensuring that we’re accessible to most people. Keep in mind that our pricing reflects a comprehensive package, not just a single session. This treatment requires significant time, experience, and specialized training, and we’re proud to offer it with the expertise it deserves.

While KAP isn’t covered by insurance yet, we do provide payment plans for those who need flexibility. Please see below for more details on pricing.

What does a KAP session include?

Each KAP package includes; a preparation session, the medicine session and an integration session (24-48 hours after your medicine session).

Preparation sessions are designed to help you get ready for your ketamine experience. During these sessions, you’ll meet with your guide to discuss what to expect and to explore your intentions for the journey. Understanding your expectations and setting clear intentions are key to a meaningful experience, and any questions or concerns will be addressed during this time. These sessions are approximately 45-60 minutes and can be done via zoom or in person.

In Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) sessions, the medicine is administered by a highly trained guide in the form of a lozenge or tablet that dissolves under your tongue. The medicine is absorbed sublingually, not swallowed. Soon after, you’ll begin to feel relaxed as the dissociative effects of ketamine take hold. For the next 45 minutes or so, your guide will monitor your safety and support you as you explore whatever comes up. In this altered state of consciousness, many find that their mind’s natural defenses soften, allowing difficult emotions to be processed in a safe and insightful way. As the medicine wears off, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss your experience with your guide, helping to solidify the insights and work through any challenges. The medicine sessions are approximately 2.5 - 3 hours and should be done in person.

While many find their KAP journey peaceful, some may encounter challenging experiences. What is sometimes referred to as a “bad trip” is simply a difficult experience that may involve resurfacing trauma or memories needing to be processed. With your guide’s support, these challenges can be navigated effectively.

Following your ketamine experience (24-48 hours), integration sessions are crucial for making lasting changes in your life. These sessions help you incorporate the insights, connections, understandings, emotions, and challenges from your journey into your everyday life. Integration is about turning your intentions into reality, creating a transformative healing experience that brings a sense of wholeness. The integration sessions are approximately 45-60 minutes and can be done via zoom or in person.

What is Ketamine Assisted Therapy?

Ketamine Assisted Therapy (KAP) is a highly effective mental health intervention for treating PTSD, chronic depression, anxiety, panic attacks, self-esteem issues, and other complex mental health challenges. Each session is unique, with the medicine guiding you to what truly needs healing, rather than just discussing what you think needs attention. A guide is with you throughout the entire experience, providing support and ensuring your safety.

Unlike traditional therapy, Ketamine Assisted Therapy (KAP) offers a more gentle and transformative approach. While regular therapy can take months or even years to see progress, KAP helps you access and understand things that might have been out of reach before. Each session is tailored to your unique needs and intentions, allowing for a deeper and more personal healing journey. This process often brings relief faster, with some people noticing positive changes right away.

What are the side effects?

Your journey with Ketamine Assisted Therapy may sometimes feel challenging, and it's important to know about possible side effects. Common ones like drowsiness, nausea, and dizziness usually pass quickly. Because ketamine has psychedelic properties, you might temporarily experience blurred or double vision, slurred speech, limited mobility, unusual visual effects, or a feeling of being strange or unreal. Other possible effects include headaches, dry mouth, and trouble concentrating. Though rare, allergic reactions can happen. Generally, the therapeutic dose will help you feel calm, relaxed, and reduce pain. A guide will be with you throughout the session to ensure your safety and comfort. Please arrange for a driver to assist with your pick-up and take-home after the session.

How many sessions will it take?

Since each person’s experience with KAP is unique, the number and length of sessions can vary. This also depends on the depth and intensity of the trauma you’re working through. It's crucial to stay consistent, especially in the first 1-3 sessions, as this is when you establish the strongest relationship with the medicine. Most significant insights tend to emerge between sessions 3-6. You can always adjust the spacing of your sessions—whether bi-weekly, monthly, or quarterly—based on how you feel and what you need. While there are no guarantees, many people notice improvements in behaviors, symptom reduction, and meaningful connections even after just one session. On average we recommend completing a series of 4-6 sessions before you take a break or wanting to set deeper, more triggering intentions.

Troches vs IM or IV?

There are many clinics offering a ketamine session via Intramuscular (IM) or Intraveinously (IV). There is also a misconception from some that the higher the dose of the medicine or the more extreme the method of administration is; the better results. However, this is simply not true. The method of administration does matter in some cases, but typically not until a person has had their own experiences with the medicine.

We choose to work with troches because it is a softer, safer and more consensual approach. A person can still lessen their barriers while working with this medicine but remain in control over their experience. IM or IV ketamine experiences can often leave someone afraid of the medicine or sometimes afraid of what the medicine is showing them. This is typically because other clinics do not spend the time preparing and informing you of what this process is and they often do not have a guide present with you throughout the entireity of your medicine session.

A person using troches will still have an experience, gain insight and see symptom reduction without feeling as if they are completely vulnerable and unprotected as they are in a dissociative state.
