There is no diagnosis or trauma you must define yourself with in order to join us. Q. Is lodging Included?
A. You bet! We all will be staying in a secluded, private cabin in Ogden, Utah where we all will create enough space to hold everyone! Each participant will have access to their own bed, however there is limited private bedrooms available. The other beds will be in shared rooms.
Q. Do I have to be in therapy already to attend?
A. Absolutely not! This space is for anyone, regardless of their mental health journey. Whether you have never attended therapy before or you have gone for years. This will give you a different perspective that you probably have never experienced before and you can take what you learn and apply it in your therapy experiences after!
Q. How is it different than other retreats?
A. A lot! Healing Feathers staff believe in trauma-informed practices. Meaning we believe healing from the inside out, without a bandaid approach. This gives people the chance to fully transform their life and see changes. Rather than just seeing temporary relief that lasts a matter of days. Also, there is limited processing that will be taking place. We are going to immerse you into these experiences so you are able to have your own journey with each activity. We don't want to sit around and just talk about everyone's story.
Q. What if I'm scared to be vulnerable?
A. You probably are! And that's okay. Anxiety, fear and shame are all part of owning this process. Allowing yourself to feel it as you navigate this weekend is what matters! We are here to help you as licensed professionals and will provide a supportive, safe environment for you to be in as these feelings may arise. Remember, everyone attending will be vulnerable and nervous, so you also can bond with others as you all create this safe environment with one another.
Q. What are the dates and times?
A. Check-in will begin after 12 PM on Friday, October 21 and we will say our goodbyes and celebrate our transformation Sunday morning of the 23.
Q. What are the requirements of this retreat?
A. Safety is our biggest priority. We want everyone to feel mentally and physically safe. So, we ask that what happens here, stays here! Unless, you are telling everyone how great your experience was or how we helped transform your life, please leave all other personal and confidential information at the cabin. We want to respect everyone's privacy. Also, we are asking that this is a "turned off" event; meaning no computers, no tablets, no cell-phones! All electronic devices will be asked to be placed with staff for the weekend or left at home.
Q. What should I pack?
A. Well, it's the end of October in Utah, so that may be dependent on weather. But, we will send more information to you before you depart in prep emails starting in October. We recommend comfy, casual clothing as there will be a lot of movement. Wear something comfortable and bring layers as we will be going outside! No need to dress fancy or try and impress anyone!
Q. After, I register can I cancel and get a refund?
A. All sales are final and no refunds will be provided. However, we understand this is a large investment so we give the option of your registration to be transferred to someone else. Concerns with this; feel free to email Ronda at rdavis@healingfeatherstherapy.com
Q. What is the COVID-19 Policy?
A. The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization and is reported to be extremely contagious, including variants of the virus. COVID-19 can cause serious and potentially life threatening illness and even death. Since we cannot prevent you from becoming exposed to, contracting, or spreading COVID-19 while participating in the Event, if you choose to participate in the Event, please be aware you may be exposing yourself to and/or increasing your risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19.
